Betley Cricket Club - 175 Years Anniversary

We are proud to support Betley Cricket Club through their 175th Anniversary

Merry Christmas to all our players and members.  We have big plans for next season including extended junior nights and 2 Saturday Sides. Our 175th anniversary commences in April with our friendlies Easter weekend - coinciding with our Gin & Beer festival!

Playing Teams

2 teams are now confirmed for the NSSCL on Saturdays - our First XI in Division 6 and our new Second XI in a larger Division 8. Our Sunday side will still play in the Stone League.

We have 25 confirmed players for Saturdays and 6 for only Sundays (giving opportunity for 2 games / practice as required).  We also have 6/7 players coming to join us in Winter Nets - so we are setting ourselves up well for the season ahead.

Equipment

We are looking to purchase the following items for next season (funding allowing):
  • 2 Sight screens
  • 1 Bowdry
  • 1 boundary rope
  • A 'Verticutter' for the mower (reduces thatch and improves the wicket)
Sponsorship

We continue to work hard to bring funding into the club.  So far this season we have secured a new shirt sponsor, Saturday game sponsor, rope sponsor as well as a number of new / renewals of banner ads. Anyone know of anyone looking for advertising opportunities please let us know via the players rep....

Funding / Grants

We continue to work on a number of grant / funding opportunities.  These include:
  • Working with Woodlands Trust to provide more water reducing shrubs and trees
  • Green grants for new changing room doors
  • Commonwealth themed Sports England Grant
  • FCC grant
  • Continued COVID grants where available
Not all these will be awarded, but should we get one of either the FCC or Sport England grant then the club will be able to advance our plans for better beer garden / bar / outdoor community areas.

2022 Q1 Working Parties

We are looking to redecorate inside and outside early in the new year, with potentially some work done to the car park.  Please support with your time where it is possible.

175 not out

Next year is our 175th anniversary, and we are hoping this will have a theme throughout the season with our events below.

Please please please get involved - if every player gets involved in 1 event & 1 Friday night, the club will continue to move forward in leaps and bounds....
